Partook of pig this last Friday and My tummy has been rejecting coffee as payback. Had the opportunity to put no coffee no prana to the test this morning. Even though I was foggy, the practice defogged my head and my practice was quite pleasant and energetic. Also teacher asked what would it be like to scratch my preliminary stretches? The answer was good. Maybe my preliminaries are just futzing. So far Harney’s green tea with coconut and lemongrass essence (this was a gift) will do quite nicely in the mornings.
Wait, no lemongrass, it is ginger (yay kaphas), and vanilla. very yum.
That tin is so pretty that I want to drink that tea NOW! Coffee is turning on me lately for no apparent reason…I’ve been feeling bereft.
All their flavor combos are amazing. I began taking my coffee black because soy & dairy bad for Kapha. Maybe that’s also a factor.
I’m sorry to hear about your coffee blahs….so after doing your practice without, which experience do you prefer? Primary with or without coffee? I leave the caffeine for after practice as my monkey mind doesn’t need much to get started and coffee would just make it even more challenging to focus.
On another note – how was the pig roast? That experience is on my bucket list
Hey D! Primary takes care of everything, event the coffee blahs. The fog in my head was less bothersome than the tummy irritation I feel when I drink it these days. I had some coffee later on in the morning and it felt fine, so it must be the empty stomach aspect of it. So the the pig roast. My childhood friend Ignacio Villa raises what he calls Vermont Whey Fed Pigs, in Waitsfield Vt. He uses the whey from Jasper Hill Farms and other cheese making operations to feed his very happy free roaming mud rolling pigs. He slaughtered one for our high school reunion at my house last August, and the 11 pound butt was the only piece left. Made it the cuban way. It was already smoked so it was roasted with lots of Goya mojo and Bitter orange. I don’t think I can handle an entire animal in house, but I have fond memories of pig with apple in mouth roasts at my parents home in Colombia. There are a couple of places in NYC where you can order an entire pig for your group. Now you know why my stomach must be sour.
Ohhh I love that!!! Yum yum yum. I’ve been obsessed with organizing a pig roast since the No Reservations episode where Bourdain samples lechon (spit-roasted suckling pig) in the Philippines. Such a fun event to bring people together over good food. One day perhaps.
For the stomach – perhaps a shot of grappa or eau de vie after dinner is what’s needed
