I was about to pay $50 in medical co-pay to have someone look at my left heel. Every time I got up from bed or sitting, it would hurt to press down on that heel and I would limp for the first few steps. I would silently deplore the getting older/54 years of standing + teaching while standing while pudgy results on my poor heel. Well today led primary is going super well, Upavishta Konasana is deep with a nice assist from teacher’s assistant that day and up we go very nicely, then down and BAM! I have been banging that heel hard almost every day!! So there it is, not real wear and tear but landing harder on the left heel than on the right heel. How the hell I’m a gonna fix that tick?
I hope you teacher instructs you to flex your feet so that when you land your bounce will be on te calves and NOT on the heals..
She probably has, but have I’ve been listening? Nooo, I’m all wound up trying to not fall backwards, nor bending my knees to catch my feet. Heels? calves? have not given them a thought till today. Thank you Stephanie.
Oh I feel your pain – for me, it’s in Supta Konasana (the reverse Upavista Konasana) where my left heel really lands with a bang. The balancing is tricky and I guess the control (bandhas!) will come with time. Until then, it’s damage control….
I probably bang on SK as well D, even though the light went on in UK. Bandhas, duh…I’ll try ad remember on Sunday.
I’m nibbling on serrano ham right now as I type so don’t worry about me…:)
